The Harvest Cycle

The Harvest Cycle

The Harvest Cycle describes the discipleship pathway at Harvest represented by four stages of spiritual growth in discipleship. Each of these stages can be viewed as a pathway toward becoming an empowered follower of Jesus. We view this as a cycle and not a line, however, because we all can continue to grow in each of these four aspects.

So, what does it mean to be "established"?
At Harvest, we want you to be established in the faith with others. There are two parts to this statement.

Established… in the faith.
The faith we inherit as followers of Jesus includes specific truths recorded for us and revealed to us in Scripture. Look the following two passages:

Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
(Jude 3 ESV)

Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.
(1 Corinthians 15:1–5 ESV)

Faith is so much more than merely a feeling about God or Jesus. Biblical faith is a response to revealed knowledge about God’s saving work through Jesus.

Question: What are a few facts about “the faith” and “the gospel” according to these verses?

The Bible is our fully reliable and authoritative source for the knowledge necessary to establish our faith in God. That’s why we point you back to the Bible each and every Sunday when we gather!

While the Bible is absolutely essential to establishing your faith, following Jesus is a team sport. That leads to the second part of what it means to be "established."

Established… with others.
In addition to knowing and applying what the Bible teaches, to have a firm foundation in your faith, you need other believers to help you!

Sunday worship services provide a great place to worship and learn together with other believers but you also need more. We all need to have friends who encourage our faith. To help you establish those kinds of friendships we encourage you to participate in a small group at Harvest.
